Physician Associate

About the Division :

Physician Associates are formally trained to assist the consultants in diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive health care services.  They will be trained to perform preliminary assessments and physical examination and will be competent to order and interpret laboratory tests and X-rays that will aid in the diagnosis by qualified medical practitioners.

Physician Associates are trained healthcare professionals who work alongside doctors to provide patient care. They help with basic check-ups, examine patients, and assist in diagnosing and treating illnesses. They can also order and understand lab tests and X-rays, helping doctors make the right decisions. They always work under the guidance of a qualified doctor as part of a healthcare team.

Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research offers a Four-year BSc Physician Associate program to train students in supporting doctors in different healthcare settings. The program gives students real clinical experience in a multispecialty hospital, helping them learn through hands-on practice. After completing the course, students are expected to have the skills needed to work effectively as Physician Associates.
