Research Focus
- The Department actively promotes research aimed at developing innovative, evidence-driven strategies for disease prevention, management, and health promotion. Students are provided with structured research exposure throughout the program, including training in research methodology, biostatistics, and scientific writing. With over twenty two Ph.D. scholars actively working on different research projects, including ICMR-funded projects, research activities are a priority in our department.
- The concept and methodologies of research are imparted to students at the undergraduate level, with a number of students receiving the coveted Chancellor’s Summer Research Fellowship for their outstanding project proposals. M.Sc. dissertations offer greater experience in developing research questions, study design, securing ethical clearances, and finally publishing their work. Every year, students are awarded for ‘Best Outgoing Student’, ‘Best Dissertation’, and ‘Best Clinical Practice’.
- The Department’s research focus includes clinical nutrition, public health nutrition, therapeutic interventions, and development of innovative, sustainable strategies for disease prevention and management, in alignment with national healthcare priorities. Summer Research Fellowship for Undergraduates:
The Summer Research Fellowship is another one of its kind that adds uniqueness to the B.Sc Programme. Selected Undergraduates are provided grants from the University to kindle their Research skills.
Infrastructure:
The Department is equipped with a spacious laboratory for Food analysis and a food Science Lab with modern facilities. The department also consists of adequate class rooms along with female and male rest rooms.
